Vanime Review

5 Centimeters Per Second" is undoubtedly one of Makoto Shinkai's finest works. The character designs are captivating, and the voice artists have done a commendable job in bringing them to life. The animation in this film is exceptionally beautiful, evoking a sense of nostalgia that tugs at your heartstrings. The falling cherry blossom leaves and the running scene between Takaki and Akari transport you back to cherished childhood memories. Writing about this movie, my heart feels empty, just like it did after watching it. The film strikes a chord with its portrayal of reality, leaving you feeling both sad and contemplative. Takaki's relentless journey to meet Akari, even in a snowstorm, teaches us the value of determination and not giving up, which is further accentuated when they finally reunite. Their brief encounter becomes a precious memory that will last a lifetime. Moving on to the second part, the animation of the sky during the shuttle launch and Kanae surfing while grappling with her feelings is captivatingly portrayed. This part teaches us the pain of unrequited love and the importance of letting go, especially when feelings are not reciprocated. Many can relate to the inner battle we face when confronted with one-sided love. The third part beautifully depicts the cold, lifeless city, mirroring Takaki's feelings after so many years of pining for Akari. It illustrates the reality of life, and the difficulty of moving on and accepting that some situations may not have a happy ending. It imparts the lesson that clinging to the past only brings pain and suffering, and sometimes, we must learn to let go. "5 Centimeters Per Second" is a movie that holds a special place in my heart, as I too have experienced one-sided love and struggled to confess my feelings or move on. This film reminds us to cherish life's little joys, indulge in our favorite treats, and watch our favorite movies. We must learn to find happiness within ourselves, embrace positivity, and be kind to both others and ourselves. This cinematic masterpiece is a poignant exploration of life, love, and the beauty of accepting reality.
